Description: This class builds on the fundamentals of I-100. They will learn how to read a P&ID, go deeper into the technology of instruments to better understand how they work and what can affect their operation. They will be introduced to various ways to communicate with instrumentation and learn how to set them up. They will use a laptop, tablet and standard HART communicator to communicate to instruments. They will learn how to communicate using 4-20, Ethernet IP and Bluetooth primarily. The focus is on instrumentation. Flow, level, press, temp and an introduction to pH and conductivity (two very common analytical measurements). The labs will focus on adaptation to using different tools to communicate, setting up instruments and an introduction to some basic troubleshooting.
